Highest vineyard in Europe

What began as a small hobby of Mr. Manuel Luengo Chillón 71 years ago has become a beautiful family business with 10 children who have continued with the generational handover. Our vineyard, which is still family run, is nourished by our love for high quality wine and our devotion to bring it to you. Organically farmed and carefully selected, our grapes provide a taste that has won multiple awards, both locally and internationally.

Lands

The landscape and culture of the jable

The winery has two of its own vineyards, Los Frontones and Los Blanquitos, and supply agreements with selected winegrowers in the region.
In a semi-desert region with volcanic soils, an extreme form of agriculture has traditionally been developed, based on the maximum use of water.

In the coastal area, between 300 and 1000m, a volcanic pumice is used, the jable, which conserves and absorbs the ambient humidity. In the high mountain area, with its stony soil and extreme climate, it depends on rain.  Today it is supported by drip irrigation techniques.

"At Frontos, grapes are cultivated and cared for with the utmost care, as the basis of our product strategy".

Highest vineyard in Europe

Los Frontones

Its altitude above the cloud layer (1,200m) allows for organic cultivation, free of botrytis, which, together with the special characteristics of the stony, well-drained soil, gives rise to one of the most unique terroirs in the Canary Islands.
At an altitude of 1,700m, on the border of the El Teide National Park, Viña Los Frontones is located, a “borderline vineyard”, the highest in Europe, and in the Canary Islands the most distant agricultural site from the coast, which gives it unique bioclimatic conditions with very extreme seasonal and day/night cycles, offering singular conditions for the quality of the vines.

Finca frontos

Los Blanquitos

In the midlands of the island of Tenerife, 600m away, we have our 50 hectares of Finca Frontos, where you can find the Frontos project: restaurant, bodega and tasca.
We regret to inform you that at present we do not have our own vineyard in the vicinity of the winery.
